The founders of the Social Innovators project tried to address two problems. Unemployment and precarious employment of young people and understaffing of non-governmental organizations. They envisioned a series of paid trainings and mentorships for young people in the widest possible range of non-governmental organizations in the participating countries, free education and training for non-governmental organizations and the general public that could concretely benefit from addressing the identified problems, and the establishment of three innovative "social laboratories" - one each in Slovenia, Bulgaria and Croatia -, with all the necessary infrastructure, with which the activities of the project could be carried out even after its completion. The project design was good enough to be supported by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Financial Mechanism Fund and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism for Youth Employment with a total donation of 1,110,831.78 euros. The project lasted four years. The photos I made for the project were published in Outsider magazine.
